Not Portobello Beach Day 178 (Birdlip Blip)

A view from Birdlip looking back over The Severn Vallley and the City of Gloucester as we take our leave of our grandson and his parents. We have had a wonderful week with them. We are now in London for the weekend and head north on Monday.

(For the eagle eyed, the cathedral is in the centre of the city originally known as Glevum. The Roman road ran straight down this escarpment. It is still used. The dual carriageway snaking up the hill , in the centre of this blip, turns into a single carriageway and is a notorious bottleneck at the top of the hill. There has been talk of a tunnel to take this arterial route linking M5 to M4, under the Iron Age fort at Crickley Hill to the right of this blip. Our cottage for this week was in Upton St Leonard's just visible below the dry ski slope on the far left of my blip.)
