Started with a beautiful sunrise and chat with the little ones as they excitedly munched their Nutella bagels and told me what was in their stockings, then a walk through the woods and along the shore of the Dalmeny estate by the bridges, chatting some of the time to T&Kt as they walked Heston (who was dressed as an elf!) in a frosty park before heading to Kt’s parents’ house for lunch. Also managed to finish listening to the latest Ian Rankin along the way.
Home and had coffee and a mince pie then lots of texts with people before opening some presents. A&N had gone out for their walk and found themselves cut off with floods so had to reroute. Later on I prepped a guinea fowl based dinner (far fewer range of veg than usual, but some rather good coloured carrots that kept their colours when roasted) and enjoyed it with some fizz, then chatted again to A&N who were very pleased with all they’d cooked for their first solo Christmas dinner and were now collapsed on the sofa like me!
Some dessert (very small slice of a large Christmas pudd I’d bought!) and nonsense TV, then a chat with K and catch up on their day before bed.
That went better than I’d expected.....but I’m looking forward to a catch up Christmas Day with them all once we can meet up again...in the meantime my sitting room is still full of wrapped presents going nowhere!
