On Frozen Pond (back blip for Sun)

There was a brief thaw in the weather last weekend. I could almost fool myself that Spring had arrived, with the constant sunshine and the birds proclaiming their territories from trees across Wanstead Flats.

At ground level, however, it was still actually quite chilly. This pool near Jubilee Pond certainly remembered the freezing temperatures of the previous few days, although the water level below the ice had fallen, leaving it resting on the surrounding grasses and refracting the sunlight strikingly.

The ground around was a crème brulée combination of frozen crust with sticky mud beneath; slight awkward to walk on.
