Thought I’d try a different setting!

I figured I ought to try some thing other than auto and program, so I used the action shot setting to get these birds on their way home for the night. just before sunset, we stopped next to a preserve and there was a section in the middle that was clearly the overnight roosting spot for thousands of birds. I don’t think I’m currently any threat to any professional nature photographers, but not bad for my first shot.

I learned that sometimes redwing black birds hide their shoulder colors... see the shot in the extras. You can see the bottom of the red/yellow. Guess they like to go incognito sometimes!
