Last One Maybe

What makes this photo of an Orchard Orbweaver Spider somewhat special is that it's still alive. Lately we've had several nights with temps a bit below freezing for several hours. This is usually enough to wipe out most of our arachnids or to at least send them into deep hiding/hibernation mode. Typically, even with low temps at night, our days here in North Central Florida warm up nicely. Yesterday I saw a couple of butterflies fluttering around in our backyard, even though there very few flowers for them to sip on. I spotted this beauty this morning at Kanapaha Botanical Gardens, happily siting in the middle of her web. Probably my last spider blip until Spring. But then, you never know! :)
Many thanks to carol_dunham for hosting TinyTuesday for the month of December!
