Frosty City

The view from the Old Royal Observatory in Greenwich Park, south London, across the Thames to Canary Wharf. In the middle distance are the twin domes of the Old Royal Naval College, designed chiefly by Sir Christopher Wren.

The statue, built in 1930, commemorates General James Wolfe's victory against the French at Quebec which secured Canada for the British. Wolfe, whose parents lived in Macartney House on the edge of the park, died in the battle.
