All that remains

Why does it seem to take so long to take down the Christmas decorations and wrangle the tree out of the patio door without covering the carpet with a thick carpet of needles ? All done now and waiting for me to put them back in the attic.
These flowers which arrived before Christmas are still going strong and brightening up the bare looking room.
