Quod oculus meus videt

Blackbird

A busy day at home, getting prepared for new carpets being laid tomorrow. I'm sure in the past the fitters have lifted the existing carpets and disposed of them for the customer. We have been told it is our responsibility to clear the room, prior to delivery and fitting.

As a result I had little time to focus on photography (please excuse the pun!). I saw this blackbird, trying to get at the fat pine cone and was taken by the effort. He couldn't reach without stretching out and needed to use his wings to balance and pull back.

Please don't look too closely. THe shot was hand held using a Nikon 70-200 mm f2.8 zoom on the Nikon v1 using the FT-1 adapter. The shutter speed fought against a sharp image given a speed of just 1/250th second and and effective 540 mm. Not ideal.
