Pirkkala Old Church's 100th anniversary

In the evening we visited Pirkkala Old Church, which turns 100 years. Inside of the modest church is illuminated and it is open for visitors till tomorrow. This was our wedding church.

On the same spot there has been several churches, first one in the 13th century. Former churches were made of wood, that's why they have been destryed, probably burned down.

The former parish of Suur-Pirkkala (Great Pirkkala) occupied over half of Pirkanmaa region (14 613 km²) Suur-Pirkkala began to split when new parishes and municipalities were founded. Now Pirkkala is a small town, total area is only 104 km².
