A gathering of gulls

At high tide this afternoon at Roome Bay, Crail the seabirds were huddled in close to the shore, and off on the other side of the Forth I could see the snow showers sweeping across East Lothian.

Had fun photographing oystercatchers, redshanks, eider duck and more, but this photograph sums up the teeming nature of the amount of birds which were in by the shore.

I love reading Will Cresswell's "Wild Crail" blog each week to hear about the bird life around the village, and since it's the Year of Natural Scotland (as dictated by our national tourism leaders) then no doubt I'll be paying a bit more attention this year.
