Light

Beautiful light as I took a late afternoon stroll up to St Ives Estate.  It seemed a good time to go as many people seemed to be leaving.  The pond is no longer frozen,  but there were still icy patches on some of the pathways, and with most of the ice melting the mud is back!  Lots of fungi about, and the swans were doing synchronised preening (extras).  I sneaked up the new pathway by the golf course to check on Joe’s memorial (not a public right of way, but as it is rubber matting I thought it would be less slippery than the grass on the course).  I had told myself I didn’t want to go up there again, but it it lovely up there when the sun is setting and the views across to the viaduct and Ogden Moor are spectacular.  Quite dark as I got back to the village, but a lovely walk.  Saw P on the way back up the hill as he was getting a takeaway from the pub.  He says he hasn’t really seen anyone to talk to since the pub had to close as it is the only place he goes to socialise. These lockdowns are hard to take for many people.
