St Kilda

The largest island, and by 1930 the only inhabited island, in the St Kilda archipelago is named Hirta. This fishery patrol vessel is also named Hirta. The vessel was leaving this morning to go on on a cruise in the North Sea.

Looks like the pilot boat is ready to pick up the pilot. The boat is standing by next to the rope ladder.

Since Boxing Day when we went into our "enhanced" (does that mean improved?) tier 4 lockdown we are not allowed to leave our local authority area. As an Aberdeen City resident that makes the world very small. From my fairly central location, it is about three miles in any direction, or as far as the sea which is a bit less. There will be very localised photo opportunities over the next few months.
