Common garden variety!

Yesterday it was very hot and today it is much cooler with showers and now some increased humidity. Great to have rain for the very parched garden and rain also brings out our little friends, the snails.

I managed to save this one's life for a moment, before Paladian dispatched it to the great slippery pathway in the sky!

See much clearer.

Snail is a common name that is applied mostly to land snails. However, the common name "snail" is also applied to most of the members of the molluscan class that have a coiled shell that is large enough for the animal to retract completely into.

I would like to say that this is the very rare Australian garden snail, but sadly that would not be true and would be a complete fantasy!

Thanks to Lenna for pointing out there is a very interesting book called The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating by Elisabeth Tova Bailey.
