South Coast Scribblings

Frequent visitor

We are frequently visited by this chap at the moment - a cock pheasant, of course.  He was on the neighbour’s fence this morning.  Yesterday he was making a lot of noise - we weren’t sure why, unless this is mating season.  We used to see whole groups of these birds running along behind the builders’ fence.  Then we didn’t see any for months, now this chap has returned!

We popped over to my Dad's this afternoon to sort out a few things for him.  As he’s in our ‘bubble’ there’s no problem with this.  He wanted us to get back before dark because of possible ice on the roads.  We left at 4pm and it was already down to 2 degrees.  It was useful not to have to scrape the ice off the car, because it was due to be at freezing point by 5pm.  There’s still a surprising amount of traffic on the roads - it’s nothing like as quiet as the first lockdown in March.  We’re guessing that maybe a lot of people are being told ‘come to work or lose your job’ due to struggling companies, but we don’t know that, obviously.
