Katie the ghost hunter

Christine and I travelled through to see brother Jim and his wife, Liz. The highlight of the visit was the ghost tour, including a visit to the Covenantors' Prison at Greyfriars Kirkyard, and a chance to be scared rigid by the Mackenzie Poltergeist.

Although our tour guide, Katie, was very good at building up the atmosphere, nothing weird happened.

The evening was dominated by our concern about Jill and Peter, my neighbours. It was Jill who lent me the book of the MacKenzie Poltergeist, and she and Peter leapt at the chance of doing the Ghost Tour with us. We had arranged to meet in a restaurant in the Royal MIle, and they were a no-show. We ended up phoning back to the Highlands to see if anyone had heard from them, as they hadn't phoned us to say that there was a problem.

Anyway, long long long story - they were indeed OK, but had got lost in Edinburgh because of all the roads closed & the tram work. Their dinner that evening was a sandwich. Oh dear.
