Ducks on a Pond

Our local nature reserve is mainly woodland but also includes an area of marsh, a stream and a small pond. Part of the pond was frozen this morning, but at the other end I found this pair of mallard ducks feeding. The female has her head under the water, whilst the male keeps watch. Last year a pair of mallards raised a family here, but I don't know if these are the same ones.
