Sunset on snowy Simonside

I’m glad I didn’t post my blip earlier because we had this amazing sunset 10 minutes ago. No editing required

We had a walk this morning - a lot easier after wearing our spiders on our boots - we’ve not needed them for a few years so had to hunt them out. The road was very icy where cars had packed the snow down. We headed for the river. The wind was chilly coming up the valley from the east.

What a coincidence - we just “happened “ to come upon Katy and Colin walking from their house. We went in permissible pairs back over Lady Bridge then took a path new to us across a couple of fields, over a stile to cross the Thropton road and up to Pondicherry. We parted company at the top of Gravelly Bank - they headed downhill for home and we walked back along Hillside. Only 4 miles but it was nice to be out.

I persisted with the jigsaw. I found my mistake - I had made 6’7” son in law even taller! Even so, there’s a lot of paving slabs, bushes and sky to get to grips with.

The Queen has had her jab. New Covid cases today are almost 60,000. Deaths 1035 in 24 hours. New pleas to stay at home and police will be less softly softly in approach. Yesterday 2 women in Derbyshire were fined for driving 5 miles to go for a walk. So staying in your local area means very local. It was not stated clearly enough how local local actually was.

Our neighbour, aged 84, had an op in RVI last night. They found 2 broken bones in his back and infection round a nerve. He’s had a biopsy and a metal rod put in. He slipped off a step 3 months ago but didn’t feel anything at the time. Of course he’s not allowed visitors and their daughter lives in Herts.
