Coasters

They're on my desk here in my 'quiet room'... actually, just a plank of wood on two adjustable IKEA stands bought specifically to support this same plank of wood.  The plank is a remnant of a much larger piece I bought almost two years ago, pieces of which were sawed off at the DIY for two extra shelves in the closet.  The coasters add a much-needed pop of colour at one end and are used for my cup of tea or glass of gin or fresh orange juice.  Thanks for the coasters, Topsy and WJM!

More news and news-following today, none of which was really cozy, as all headlines have been hogged by either COVID-19 or the DC insurrection.  I wonder if there are any WW1 survivors today who were alive when the war had just ended, the Spanish Flu was raging, and the Great Depression was just around the corner.  Exactly a century ago.  Future generations will go through all of this again.  Bla bla.

Grey outside but not as dark as yesterday.  Lockdown Day 25, so we still have another 10 days to go, but with a possible extension of another two weeks.  Our medical staff are exhausted.  Their work has become routine so they know what to do, but all of it is now like that huge rock Sisyphus has to roll up the hill forever.  Our statistics are not promising.  What a fabulous price to pay for all those end-of-year festivities.  Two weeks incubation time, you say?  The math is correct after all.  Guess what... Chinese New Year is coming up.  Two weeks after that...
