Oaks love slate..

Hardly any earth above the slate bedrock. But they seem to thrive on it. They are nicknamed curley oaks as they adapt their branch / leaf growth to cater for particular environments. Many of them have very twisted and curly branches.
Cold and damp day today with all the tops of the surrounding hills covered in low cloud. Very atmospheric!
