Anticipation

Tonight we are going to start Series 3 of Victoria. Having very much enjoyed series 1 and 2, we have been saving this up as a treat.

The extra shows our den where we will be watching the video. No, of course it doesn’t, that’s the Albert Hall which we visited in 2019. When Queen Victoria laid the foundation stone in 1867 she announced that the Hall would be called the Royal Albert Hall of Arts and Sciences, in honour of her beloved husband Albert, who had died in 1861. The name probably came as a surprise to the assembled dignitaries, who had been under the impression that it was to be called the Central Hall of Arts and Sciences.

Victoria is supposed to have said that the dome of the Albert Hall (second extra) reminded her of the British Constitution. I wonder what sort of a picture she had in mind? And I wonder what Her Majesty would have made of the current furore around the US Constitution?
