Traces

We were looking for more traces from the Jewish inhabitants in Groß-Bieberau.
We visited the remembrance stone for the synagogue, which was burned down during the November pogrom in 1938.
"In 1873 a new synagogue was built. It had 34 male and 18 female places. There were four Torah scrolls.
The synagogue was burned down during the November pogrom in 1938. To carry out the pogrom, SA men and around 50-60 other people met at Fischbachbrücke and moved in groups to the synagogue and the homes of Jewish families. The synagogue was completely destroyed; the fire ruin was demolished in 1939.
A parking lot was created at the site of the synagogue. A memorial stone has been in existence since June 1986 with the inscription: "The synagogue of the Jewish community Groß-Bieberau, built in 1873, was destroyed on November 9/10, 1938. In memory of the Jewish residents who fell victim to the tyranny . Dedicated by the city of Groß-Bieberau, June 24th, 1986. "
We found that it as part of a hearing walk. You can use the barcode in the extra to listen - but it is only in German, sorry. They tell, that the Jewish people were intergrated well until the Nazis take over.
Abraham Levi served and died in the war 1870-71 for Germany. His name (see thumbnail) is remembered in front of the Church.
During the First World War, NCO Arthur Haas (born August 19, 1888 Groß-Bieberau, died December 3, 1914) and Wilhelm (Willy) Haas (born November 25, 1896 in Groß-Bieberau, died August 26, 1918) fell from the Jewish community.

We also visited the Stolpersteine for Ludwig and Sidonie May and for Ludwig and Amalia Levi.
