Another day, another walk on Kinnoull Hill. I knew we would have been missing some litter in the snow; even so I was surprised to fill two bags. (Kitchen bin size, not dustbin size. That would be too much :-).

There is a lot of this fungus to be seen on the hill. According to Wikipedia it's called Fomes fomentarius, and makes good tinder for lighting fires. The 5,000-year-old Ötzi the Iceman carried four pieces, probably for that purpose.
