Stuff and Nonsense

Kingfisher #10

Lockdown 3.0   Day #8

What a contrast to the past few days - a bright and beautiful morning with no wind :)
We were at Spike Island just after 9am when it's not so busy and had a lovely walk along the canal up to the Future Flower. With the canal now free of ice it was nice to see the swans, coots and grebes back again. on the way back we crossed the marsh and saw a pair of stonechats and we also saw the goosander that had been seen on the pond - not something we normally see at Spike.
At last we managed to see the infamous kingfisher which has been the subject of many a Facebook post recently. It was sitting on the lock gates getting some sun, and probably would have sat there all day if some guy with a dog hadn't come along and scared it off! But it was lovely to see and great to get a nice sunny shot of him. I'm sure we will see it again now we know where he is.

On the way home we dropped into Tesco's to do our shopping top up. Now I know why we don't go at lunchtime - they only had three tills open, and despite it being quiet in terms of numbers of people in the store, the queues at the checkouts were awful. I don't think we'll be doing that again!!!
