Ice Feathers

It has been very cold in the mornings for the past week. Not that it warms up much during the days, but it is particularly cold in the morning.

When I went outside for the morning ritual of scrapping the ice off the car I noticed these interesting patterns on the car roof. They look like feathers to me, but made of tiny ice crystals.
