Out and About

A walk on the Plateau

We headed up the "Rock Island Grade" today. The "Grade" is a road that goes from the floor of the Columbia River valley up to the foothills and the plateau above. The Grade is closed during the winter because it is an unpaved road. Walking it is a joy as it is sandy and easy on the feet. It's also quiet. We saw no other hikers. We gained about 3100' feet in elevation over 3.1 miles. It was hard work but worth it.
