Things are looking brighter

But only in the Co-op flower counter.
The silence in the close is driving me nuts. There are twenty-eight houses, and in normal times it’s pretty busy with visitors, neighbours chatting in the street, grandchildren dropping in after school or neighbours’ kids playing out.
Now it’s so quiet all day, every day.
Until the bloody urban foxes start their nightly patrols, complete with blood-curdling screeching in the early hours.
