Today was a day of snow, snow and more snow! So I retreated to the shed & made a few bits & pieces, including these Trinity Candles.

These candles are used in churches, schools and homes to gather people for worship, to centre thinking, to create a prayerful and reflective context and to mark the beginning and ending of gatherings. The lit candles provide a visual reminder of the presence of God the Father, the hope offered by Jesus the Light of the World and the illumination offered by the Holy Spirit.

The first candle is lit saying the words;
“... in the name of the Father”

The second candle is lit with the words;
“...and the Son”

And the third candle is lit with the words;
“....and the Holy Spirit”.

At the end of the meeting the candles may be extinguished with the same words being spoken. Some people like to keep the candles lit until all but the the last person has left the room, signifying the presence of God continuing with us as we leave.
