Steaming lake

We had very cold day today and sky was free of clouds, but there was diamond dust in the air. I took this photo of steaming Pyhäjärvi lake  in the afternoon when the sun was just setting.

Clouds of steam rise from cold water when lake is still unfrozen and very cold air mass moves in. The water has vapor pressure and it is continuously evaporating, however when it enters the colder air, the air can't hold that much water so we can see the clouds of steam and probably some ice crystals above cold water in the even colder air.

-19°C, mostly sunny
