Rob’s Snaps!

Lazy Sunday

COVID Adelaide. Appreciated today how lucky we are. My brother and sister-in-law in the UK have been diagnosed with the virus and are isolating at home. So far they say they feel like they have bad colds, hoping that it gets no worse than that. It seems that they may have caught the virus over Christmas under the ‘relaxed’ approach to social distancing. Here in Australia we have mainly responded to an outbreak by locking down fast. And so it is that we can enjoy some sort of normal for now.

Catch up with Australian brother and sister-in-law today. It’s been almost a year since we enjoyed a Sunday lunch visit to a local vineyard. Today was a welcome return to that habit. A new one to try, Mount Bera wines are located in a beautiful part of the Hills region which, before COVID, had sustained significant bushfire damage in the Sampson Flat fire. The owner was amazed to see new growth in his vines just six weeks after what he described as a nuclear blast had decimated the vineyard.

We appreciated this 2010 pinot all the more, particularly with accompanying dish of Lebanese Bharat of spiced lamb.
