Lesser Celandine

Just a record shot today I'm afraid.  This morning I went for a walk with F from his house in the centre of Oswestry.  I was pleased to see this  Lesser Celandine (plus one or two single blooms on other plants) along Penylan Lane.  It's my first sighting this year and is a welcome spring flower. It apparently should first bloom on 21st February so these are very early examples, another sign of global warming?

The other name for them is Pilewort as they were thought to be a cure for haemorrhoids due to their knobbly tubers. Apparently the sufferer can use them made into a gel or the leaves eaten.  Beware of eating raw flowers though as they're poisonous.   You really wanted to know all that didn't you?!!
