Old Caledonia

Mike: owner & co-inhabitant of the flat I lived in at Iverna Court, High St Kensington.
Luglia: girlfriend to Kim. I still have her work number (2021) but doubt she's still there - I can't remember what she did.
Kim: a non-stereotype Australian, flat co-inhabitant, buyer for Bally Shoes and constantly in Italy & France at factories and fashion shows.
Mandy: Luglia's younger sister, worked at Moss Bros in Convent Gardens where I had cause to visit a few times ... to buy stuff. Mandy always had that look for me - I took the picture.

It never got serious. Perhaps should have done...the two girls were daughters of the well known playground equipment manufacturer in Kettering and owners of a fun park there. The girls had a rather nice town house a few 100 m from us next to the Windsor Castle pub which we frequented. They were good cooks and Kim & I enjoyed many great meals there, notably their fillet steaks with home-made Béarnaise sauce!

The five of us were out on a gorgeous autumn Saturday lunch at the Old Caledonia, Thames floating pub at Westminster. The paddle steamer named PS Caledonia, was built in 1934 as a ferry on the Clyde, she saw WWII service, renamed HMS Goatfell, as a minesweeper later anti-aircraft ship. Returned to ferry duty after the war, her days were numbered due to the popularity of car ferries. 1969 due to be scrapped, she was bought by the Bass Brewery group and converted to a restaurant/pub and placed at Westminster. Renamed Old Caledonia. 1980 a major fire finally ended her days.
