No Blueys today...

First 2021 snorkel off Marino Rocks today.
The place is teeming with life - fish large and small, stingrays medium-ish (see today's extra photo), kayakers large and small, and in the distance a lone fisher of indeterminate size and gender.
But no sign of the form of life I'm really looking out for: Blue Swimmer crabs.
Heard a couple of weeks ago that some small Blueys - most likely the more-brown-than-blue females - had been spotted up the coast a little at the beach at Seacliff. Heard a couple of days ago that there had been a few females off the Rocks nearby.
But limited experience and cloudy face mask notwithstanding, I didn't manage to spot one of them, large or small, girl or boy.
I'll still be looking out for Blueys in the coming weeks and months. Mainly because it's quite difficult to forget the taste experience from Summer lunches of fresh-caught Blue Swimmer crab linguine with chilli, and a cold glass of crisp Riesling.
Unlike the pain from an aggrieved Bluey crunching down on your finger - that seems quite easy to forget.
