Why did I come in here?

A hand surgeons nightmare

The business end of a small bandsaw. I use this to cut the small hardwood blocks (White Heather burr) used in pipe making. It's the quickest and neatest way to remove waste wood.
That comes with a price, you need 100% concentration at all times. Look away for a second and you can easily remove yourself from the list of those with opposible thumbs and forefingers.
This blade is slack at present, it has not been adjusted to cutting tension, therefore the blade is not fully upright. The two hex nuts control the position of rollers which help reduce lateral blade vibration, ensuring a neater and steadier cut; there are two more rollers beneath the cutting table. Before use, the bandsaw, as with every other piece of equipment, requires "Fettling" or adjustment. Got to love a bit of fettling on a wet day.
The extra is the wave pipe I showed completed in yesterday's blip, after a bit of butchery by the bandsaw.
