Good news and (more) bad news.

We switched the TV on in time to see Kamela Harris sworn in as VP. Nipped to the loo and when I got back I had missed Joe Biden being sworn in as 46. Gosh that was quick. So happy to have finally got there. Please, Americans, it’s the 21st century. It really doesn’t need to take from November to January to get an election completed and it’s so bad for everyone’s blood pressure.
The bad news, unbelievably, is the death of Jeremy one of my predecessors as president of Leeds UCU. He was 10 years younger than me and I was convinced when I learned of his prostate cancer diagnosis during the summer that he would be like Mr EAnn and have surveillance and be absolutely fine. It’s so shocking to lose him.
