Flood Alert Level 2

Thursday 21st January 2021

I didn't warm up at all last night but thankfully woke warm and refreshed this morning, with a slightly later start. I had a plan for the day.

1hr in and the plan went out the window. The water in the boiler room had risen to about 2ft.  We contacted the council, who gave us the number for the local fire brigade. We contacted them and they told us to ring 999 as the water was getting close to the electric board. They were just finishing another local job so were with us within 10 mins. It took them just over 2hrs to pump all the water out. In the process, we were assessing the flooded churchyard etc so I was in the cold and rain again for an hour or so. Thankfully by mid afternoon it stopped raining and the sun came out.

Lots of emails and phone conversations about this and about the flood in the churchyard. Where did the day go? It's now 4.30pm and I haven't started what I was going to do!

There's a lot of flooding within the village. Quite a few houses have been at risk. We're still not as bad as some locations though. Hope you're all safe.

25th January 2019 - the other time I blipped the fire brigade outside our church. That time water was going the other way.
