Red Beech

This Red Beech tree was blown down on the night of 10th October 2013 in the park of Hof ter Saksen, Beveren, Belgium. Wisely they've left it here to rot so that we can all watch what happens as it decays.

I guess it was the sibling of the tree photographed yesterday, which you can see behind.

It was a nice sunny day today and I could have gone for a much longer walk ... but the garden beckoned. I shovelled some chickenshit onto the vegetable beds and re-hung the bird boxes after a clean.
