The Big Lodge

A much better day today, colder (about 5C) but bright and pleasant, the sort of day when you feel like taking a walk. The area is known as Alkrington Woods Nature Reserve.

I am in Rhodes, a village outside Middleton (Lancs) on the River Irwell. This is one of the well maintained fishing lodges, a tranquil spot, though I have no interest in the sport of angling itself.

I then walked along the Irwell towards Middleton, until the going got too muddy. Other walkers told me that two days ago the river was in spate, overflowing its banks, and hence the mud, of course.

Lots of people about, of all ages and all socially distancing, naturally, plus dogs and bicycles and even a couple of horses.
