The Kips

It was another glorious winter’s day so we decided to go up the Black Hill from Balerno. Of all the Pentlands, I think Black Hill is the biggest and least interesting lump and it’s also plagued by ‘habitat improvement’ for Grouse shooting. It’s also boggy so a winter’s ascent seems the best way to go up it again. There was a little transitory cloud on the higher slopes around midday, but after we had lunch in the sun at the White Cleugh it disappeared. The ascent was a little trying as the snow was deep in places with a breakable crust but the views from the top were excellent. The blip is the view from near the top of Black Hill to the Kips.

Best on black.
