Wowser

Too icy on the Porridge Hill to venture out so we indulged ourselves with books. I'd bought this in Waterstones for Christmas 2019 (remember shops?) and it's been reproaching me ever since.

The best book I've read in ages I think. Heartily recommended if it's your genre. Fiction but, from things my dad alluded to obliquely at the end of his life, based in hard fact. Tension on almost every page and the best description I've seen of life in Occupied France. A plot so complex I'm going to read it again soon so that, knowing the ending now, I can see the subtleties in the narrative I missed first time round.
