Munich Olympiad

This is a vintage Wedgwood black basalt plate made to commemorate the Munich Olympic Games 1972.
These games were infamous for the killing of two Israeli athletes and the taking of 9 others hostage. The terrorists were part of the Black September movement.. A shoot-out occurred at Munich airport between the Terrorists and the German police resulting in the deaths of the hostages along with five terrorists and one German policeman.
