Plaques

This is a photo of the Marivare Reserve Memorial Archway in Epsom, Auckland.  Twenty-eight men from the Epsom area lost their lives during World War I.  In 1919 Auckland City Council decided to organise the construction of a memorial stone arch in Marivare Reserve.  Part of the Marivare Reserve had been gifted to the Council by Ada Carr in 1919.  The land had been part of a larger estate on which stood her home, Marivare. The names of the men are inscribed on the memorial plaques on the archway.
