Zooming in on the second HMS Unicorn

Today's treat was a talk from author J.D Davies on the 2nd HMS Unicorn, built at Chatham in 1634. She was an active part of Pepys' Navy. The talk was hosted by the current HMS Unicorn, currently situated in Victoria Dock, Dundee. The current ship was launched in 1824, she is one of the six oldest ships in the world, and the only one still afloat.

Not a great picture but a fascinating talk.

Video conferencing during lockdown has been amazing, I'm not sure what we would have done without it for keeping in touch with friends and family we can't visit. A huge bonus has been the massive number of online talks and lectures on every conceivable topic. I've listened in to talks about Naval History, Scots Humour, Lady Explorers of the 18th and 19th Centuries, Medieval Buildings, tours of famous museums around the world. An exciting journey and definitely a brighter side to lockdown.
