A little tired of the local walks, suitably suited and booted we drove to the Heriot-Watt for a slither round the campus, parking in our usual (East) carpark. We do miss the Friday lunchtime recitals and the choir and lectures, and haven't been on campus for nearly a year.

The lake was not inspiring - rather dull grey ice, three cygnets and both adults, many black-headed gulls doing not much but I did like these pollarded willows by The Walk (main pic) and reflection on the upper pond (extra).

We went West, past the old graveyard as far as the new residences, named for high-achieving women - Muriel Spark, Mary Fergusson and Anna Macleod. Here we noted parcels left, by different couriers, on top of the letterboxes, some several days ago,  - presumably these will have been marked as 'delivered'. I wonder whether the servitors should collect these for safe keeping.

Very few other folk about, mainly walkers, dogwalkers and young families - some sledging in the old garden - and we avoided main paths  in preference to muddy tracks so it was quite easy to keep socially distant. At some distance overhead were some 100 geese flying South in three loose groups.

We were home before the rain began, initiating a thaw, though at present we still have about 4" snow on the lawn.
