Next stage in the process - stained glass.

After the lead has all been soldered a lead light putty is spread over the glass and pushed into the lead cames. It is a time consuming and dirty job. The putty is almost runny and black.

After the edges have been filled the glass is covered in whiting- powdered chalk. This draws the oil out of the putty and sets it. Then it has to be removed. Another messy job. The panel is then left for overnight to firm up a bit. Then the reverse side has to be done.
