Passing

This day last year I held my 94 year old mums hand as she died. Not of covid, And for that small mercy... I give thanks. I grieve for those who can't see, let alone touch dying relatives. This is not a 'new normal' and we would do well to reject such a notion. We must work for a different normal on the other side of this. We deserve better. Seamus Heaney put it this way....
"History says, Don’t hope
On the side of the grave,’
But then, once in a lifetime
The longed for tidal wave
Of justice can rise up
And hope and history rhyme.'
