Another Flutterby

I don't know anything about butterflies.

I can recognise a Monarch or an Emperor and the cabbage white is known to all (kiwis anyway) but I can't identify anything else. This wee chap was about the size of my thumbnail and flitting around the thyme.

I love macro lenses - without one I'd never have seen this proboscis. It is hair fine and I didn't know it was there until I got the image onto the large computer screen.

On Poobah's advice I've tried cropping it differently and then rotating it to a more 'upright' position. The result of that experiement can be seen here if you're interested. Any preference?
