This is our book for this month's book group - The Pearl That Broke Its Shell by Nadia Hashimi. When I saw it was set in Afghanistan telling the story of two woman separated by a couple of generations my heart sank expecting misery and loss. However the women face their situations with as much positivity and pro activity as they can muster. Perhaps the fact that the author  (now a doctor) grew up in the US means this book is not as searing as some. It is very readable AND enjoyable.
That  Rahima's story is set in recent years means so much change for women needs to happen.
