Juxtaposition

I don’t get it: only six Republican senators (out of 50) said they agreed with DT’s impeachment. It was a brilliant move by then majority leader McConnell to delay proceedings to five weeks after the insurrection: people, stupidly, have short memories and our so called leaders in the Senate have already forgotten their indignation and/or shame.

I am hoping this will change again as:
- a country wide terrorism alert has just been issued, brought on by noise from the radical right, still contesting the legitimacy of the elections;
- another law enforcement officer who had to deal with the insurrectionists just took his life today. That brings the total # of deaths to six, and;
- the trial will go on and will be broadcast. I’m expecting a whole lot of sordid details (as well as sordid defenses) to emerge. Perhaps we can revive somE of the sense of outrage among the general public, in turn pressuring the turncoat Republicans into changing their stance.

Too optimistic? I just can’t bear the thought of Trump finding a way out of this again!
