Venezia

How do you choose one photo to summarise your day when you have the whole of Venice to choose from? We were determined to cram as much as possible into our last day. The morning was my obligatory trip to St Mark's square. So many sights. The Bridge of sighs. The columns of St Theodore and the lion of Venice. The Doge's Palace. The Libreria. The Campanile. The Basilica. The Clocktower. The Piazza. But why do I always insist on going? To see my lions of course!

From St Mark's we headed to Santa Margarita for the other Venetian tradition, Spritz! A great place to watch the world go by and enjoy the sun. A few recent graduates were getting their ritual "humiliation" from their friends. The cries of "Dottore Dottore..." and laughter in the air.

After another exquisite Venetian lunch we needed to walk it off with a strenuous walk around Venice. This usually involves walking around aimlessly, trying to get lost. A theme soon develops, our own little Venetian treasure hunt. This time the theme was "Doors". The collection included the smallest, the largest, the ugliest, the crooked, the damn right strange! We must have covered every Sestieri.
