Female Goosander

The ground was so muddy today that I couldn't get as close to the river as I would have liked .... normally I can lean against a tree to take any photos of the birds but that just wasn't possible today.

The water was flowing very quickly with quite a strong current and the Goosanders struggled a bit to swim up river. The female even came out of the water to let a cormorant swim past.

My trusty companion today was my wee radio and I was just getting engrossed in Ravel's Bolero when all went silent ..... the battery was flat but I was only about 100 yards from the car and the piece is so long that I was able to enjoy the final moments in the car.
